Welcome to the Champaign County Bar Association
PRESIDENT'S PAGE
July 2008
Dear Members:
After a lot of false starts that nobody is interested in reading about, I can now ask you to
reserve Saturday, August 16, 2008 on your calendars. The annual Softball Game will be played
on that date at 2:00 p.m. Any 45 year old who is an excellent physical specimen with good
vision, good hand-eye coordination and who can run the 40 in less than 10 seconds, please
contact me at 352-7676. If you are under 45, please feel free to contact absolutely nobody. If
you are that young and are a committed masochist , I suppose you always could call Andy Hatch
at 356-2577.
There will be a kegger/cookout (Brats) at my house, 1005 Ross Drive in Champaign at
6:30. Casual dress is the word for the day. While you have to do absolute nothing except show
up, if your name begins with a letter in the first half of the alphabet, a side dish will be welcome.
For those of you in the other half, a salad or desert will work. For those of you with hyphenated
names, work it out on your own. As stated above, if you don’t want to bring anything at all, that
will work.
Please note that our new budget is contained in this letter. Also note the dues renewal
form. Your prompt attention to renewing your membership will be appreciated by the Board,
particularly Dennis and Andy.
I know most of you won’t place this on your calendar at this time; but, you should. The
Champaign Country Club is reserved for December 11th for the annual Holiday Dinner/Dance.
If, for any reason, this date conflicts with a home basketball game, keep in mind that your local
bar association had a better record last year than the team.
The more of you I see on the 16th, the happier my household will be on the 17th.
